Who are we?
Royal Bengal Teahouse (also known as RBT) is a community of artists that was founded in Brooklyn, NY in 2014, when a handful of Iranian journalists and Bengali musicians came together to hang out regularly over tea, snacks and music.
The community grew every month as the “Jam session” became a regular phenomenon. Sometimes hosted at a friend’s living room, backyard or rooftop, more and more people started attending the events and the diversity of artists and their performances became more international.
Gradually, the community organized further to take on more meaningful ventures such as fundraising concerts to raise funding for refugees and food drives for marginalized communities due to the COVID 19 pandemic.
Over the years, the tea house has brought together performance artists that performed in Arabic, Bengali, English, Persian, Portuguese, Hindi, Spanish, Urdu to count a few. It also created a platform for new and upcoming artists to showcase their work of art.
